The Woodstock City Council has voted to remove a waste hauler from its Approved Provider list, and the company’s dumpsters must be gone from the city within 30 days of the Sept. 9 decision.

Commercial Equipment Sales & Service Inc., doing business as Commercial Disposal, failed to provide a complete application with required supporting documentation, city staff told the council.

An approved provider since 2012, Commercial Disposal missed the Jan. 31 deadline to submit a 2019 Commercial Solid Waste Franchise Application; and after several phone calls and emails by the city, submitted an incomplete application on June 18, staff said.

No one from the company was present at the Sept. 9 council meeting, where a hearing was held on its vendor status, according to meeting minutes.

City ordinances do not address how long before a provider whose status has been revoked can reapply. City Attorney Eldom Basham told council members the company can do so at any time, and if it meets city requirements, its application will be approved, the minutes said.
