Commemorate 9/11 elsewhere around metro Atlanta
The 15th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, is Sunday, and DeKalb County is prepared to honor the lives lost with several events.
Below are three services planned for Saturday and Sunday.
Georgia 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb
- Starts at 8:46 a.m., Saturday, following registration at 8 a.m.
- The Manhattan Condominium, 4561 Olde Perimeter Way, Dunwoody
- Pays tribute to FDNY firefighters, police, and EMS "who selflessly gave their lives so that others might live"

DeKalb commissioners, CEO, public safety event
- Starting at 8 a.m., with moment of silence at 8:46 a.m., Sunday
- 1950 West Exchange Place, Tucker
Decatur interfaith gathering
- From 3 to 5:30 p.m., Sunday
- Ebster Recreation Center, 404 W. Trinity Place
- Attendees encouraged to bring a simple dish to share, lawn chair
- Event starts at 3 p.m. with pot-luck meal, continues with an interfaith service at 4 p.m., focusing on the theme "Remember, Reconcile, and Relate"
