Some Forsyth County Water and Sewer customers will see water rates increasing. The hike will affect customers with a separate irrigation meter, which will affect only about 3 percent of the 53,000 water and sewer customers.
The increase is designed to bring the county into conservation guidelines set forth by the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District. Rates will increase across four tiers of usage that range from a 1,000 gallon minimum to 24,000 gallons plus, with a present range of $4.53 to $10 per 1,000 gallons of use rising to between $6.80 and $12.27.
The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners approved the rate increase at its May 7 meeting. County officials said that affected customers will begin seeing the new rates reflected in August bills.
