President Donald Trump will soon get another opportunity to shape the influential federal appeals court in Atlanta, as Judge Frank Hull recently announced she plans to stop serving as a full-time judge.

Hull, a former Fulton County judge and U.S. District Court judge in Atlanta, said in a letter to Trump she will take senior status at the end of this year or when her successor is confirmed by the Senate and sworn in, whichever comes first. By taking senior status, Hull will remain on the court but take on a reduced caseload.

Hull's pending departure from the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta means Trump gets to replace her with an appointee from Georgia. Already, the White House has narrowed down the finalists to three judges on Georgia's appellate courts. To read the full story on the upcoming appointment, please go to myajc.com.
