A town hall meeting on the proposed incorporation of Sharon Springs in south Forsyth County has been set for 7 p.m., April 26, in the South Forsyth High School gymnasium.
State Rep. Todd Jones, R-South Forsyth, will host and moderate the meeting. Panelists will include Peachtree Corner Mayor Mike Mason; University of Georgia Professor Jeffrey Dorfman; municipal attorney Bill Reilly, and speakers for and against the proposed city, Jones said. Jones sponsored House Bill 626, which allows a vote by residents in a May 22 referendum. If voters approve, a city of Sharon Springs would taken in nearly 30 percent of Forsyth’s population.
Two groups seeking to persuade the public are the Sharon Springs Alliance, for the incorporation, http://www.sharonsprings.info/; and Opposing Sharon Springs, against it: https://www.opposingsharonsprings.com/.
“This event will allow for both sides to challenge information provided by the panelists in real time, allowing for a robust discussion on the issue,” Jones said. “Voters deserve a chance to know the stakes and impact of their vote.”
