We’re all familiar with the scenario: You sit down to dinner with your family, look around the table and everyone is staring at their phones.

In our uber-connected world, it’s hard to find a single second that isn’t interrupted by some text, tweet, message or alert, and family dinners are no different.

But a Chick-fil-A promotion wants to put an end to all that.

In the promotion, the chain is trying to bring back traditional family meal time.

You can pick up a box at your local Chick-fil-A dubbed a “cell phone coop.”

The idea is simple: Silence your phones, put them in the box and remember the lost art of conversation.

The company is even offering a reward for families that get through the exercise successfully.

Here’s how it works:

  • Turn all family cell phones to silent and place them in the box, or "coop" as they so creatively call it.
  • Enjoy your delicious meal, surrounded by undistracted loved ones.
  • When the meal is over, if successful in the challenge, let the staff at Chick-fil-A know. The prize? A free Ice Cream cone!

The company says the idea was created by franchise owner Brad Williams of Suwanee and now more than 150 locally owned restaurants are offering the Cell Phone Coop challenge to customers.

Here’s to family dinners like in the good old days!
