In October, “The Secrets of Smyrna” will be a new city-sponsored event.

This historical street theatre tour of Smyrna’s most interesting places and the stories of some of Smyrna’s citizens of yesteryear will be hosted by the Smyrna Arts Council and was approved recently by the Smyrna City Council.

The tour will be scripted and performed by Atlanta Theatre-To-Go, a professional theater company and nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization.

“The Secrets of Smyrna” is proposed to take place from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 17-18.

There will be three 45-minute walking tours of various downtown locations and one street closure - Memorial Place between Church Street and Atlanta Road next to the Smyrna Cemetery.

Vintage cars will be parked on Memorial Place.

Tours will start at Aunt Fanny’s Cabin on Atlanta Street across from downtown Smyrna.

At the end of each tour, light refreshments will be served at Aunt Fanny’s Cabin.

Each tour is proposed to have a maximum of 30 people, preferably 25, with tickets purchased in advance or onsite.
