The Henry County Board of Commissioners voted at its April 7 regular meeting to approve a resolution requesting that the county’s legislative delegation introduce a local law authorizing the county to create tax allocation districts.

Should the measure be approved by the Georgia General Assembly, it would allow the commissioners to put the question on a referendum. When board chair June Wood asked if it could be done in time to get on this year’s November ballot, county attorney Patrick Jaugstetter replied that it did not seem likely since the General Assembly’s session has been suspended indefinitely because of COVID-19.
