Tom Peterman has an issue with a familiar problem for readers of this column.

“You have seen this a thousand times. Someone digs a hole in the street, fixes a pipe, puts a plate over it, and acts like the job is finished. These are especially hazardous for cyclists. Why has this become the norm in the metro area?” he wrote.

Peterman said there is a current plate on North Amanda Circle at LaVista Road a year after the work began, despite many calls.

Allison Troxell has an issue with MARTA buses in her neighborhood.

“I am a resident of Lake Claire neighborhood between Candler Park and Decatur. The street right by my house – Ridgewood Rd – leads to the back entrance to the Frazer Center which serves children and adults with disabilities. This back entrance is closed to vehicle traffic except for MARTA Mobility buses and other transport vehicles,” she wrote.

Troxell said the problem is that a large number of these transport buses park and idle on Ridgewood and the closest cross street Marlbrook before actually entering the Frazer Center property. This happens every day. Neither of these streets have sidewalks.

“The main time they are loitering before going is just before 3 p.m., right as school is getting out and kids are walking home from school or the bus stops. Thus, they are dodging the busses and breathing in their fumes. I have contacted MARTA on numerous occasions and never gotten a response,” she said.

She also added the Frazer Center has said that they are free to come on into the Frazer Center property. There are also two MARTA Stations (East Lake and Candler Park) less than a mile from this location that these buses could park at before heading to the Frazer Center if they needed a break.

We sent the issue to MARTA and will let you know when the issue is addressed.
