Danny Vento hopes something can be done about traffic lights at the busy intersection of Abernathy Road and Barfield Road that need timing adjustments.
“The intersection is a very busy intersection during the evening rush, especially with all of the employees leaving the businesses in the Glenlake Industrial Park. It is usually controlled by foot officers to keep the intersection clear and flowing,” Vento said.
However, he said, the timing and sequencing of the traffic lights are the same regardless of the time of day or the day itself which causes a long line of cars backing up on Abernathy any time a single car triggers the lights from Barfield or Glenlake Parkway.
“I’ve caught this light at 5:30 a.m. on Abernathy Road and had to wait almost two minutes while the lights go through their sequence and the original car was long gone.
We sent his concerns to Sandy Springs and got a quick response.

Gary Margol has an issue with a route that enters the busy Piedmont Road corridor.
“When exiting from the I-85 north connector onto the North Piedmont Road exit, cars back up onto the exit ramp, idle and pollute, and the exit ramp has its own dedicated lane that begins on Piedmont Road.”
He said at the end of the exit ramp is a cement island to prevent oncoming traffic from entering the exit ramp’s dedicated lane. However, due to a lack of a sign that reads “keep moving” and plastic posts typically installed on such islands, drivers stop at the end of the ramp rather than entering their own dedicated lane and keeping traffic moving.
“Most drivers wait until there is no oncoming traffic at all, and some wait until the light on Lambert Drive changes to green. Signage and plastic post installation are needed at the end of the ramp.
