Following a recent public hearing, the Sugar Hill City Council approved an application from Archon Homes, LLC, John Slappey requesting design review board approval for the construction of a duplex residential structure on a quarter-acre lot on First Avenue. The property is located within the Town Center Overlay and is currently vacant.
The city’s Planning Director’s report noted there are two newer duplexes nearby on First Avenue and states, “This duplex, developed appropriately should be consistent with the area and continue the trend of redevelopment on First Avenue in a positive way.”
Design changes allowed relief from a requirement for recessed front entry garages and some material changes at outside corners. Approval came with six conditions including a requirement for front porches to be incorporated in the design.
