The Stonecrest City Alliance has become the latest cityhood group to raise enough money to fund a study to determine whether the city makes sense for southeastern DeKalb County.
Alliance chairman Jason Lary said the group reached its $30,000 goal last week and will soon hire the Carl Vinson Institute to create a financial and service study for the area.
At least three other cities, some with overlapping borders, are under review in DeKalb. Organizers for a city of Lakeside and Briarcliff are also funding studies.
