The Georgia Department of Transportation announced May 27 that it has approved the location and design of a road project for Henry County that would reconstruct and widen Hwy. 42 from Bill Gardner Parkway to Peeksville Road, all of which is within the city limits of Locust Grove. According to a statement released by the state DOT, a proposed additional 11-foot southbound lane will transition into the through lane from Cleveland Avenue south to the intersection of Hwy. 42 and Peeksville Road, where the existing southbound lane would transition into a left-turn drop lane. The project is 0.4 miles long and also contains curb and gutter with five-foot sidewalks on the southbound side. The design and location were approved May 5, according to officials.
