The Stratford Ridge apartment complex, formerly known as Madison Hills, has been reopened and revitalized with a new after-school program near Brumby Elementary School, a part of the Cobb County School District, in Marietta.

Star-C’s founder and board chair is Marjy Stagmeier who plans to contact the Canadian owners of the three blighted apartment complexes in the Riverside community to attempt to assist those living in that community, according to Cobb Commissioner Bob Ott.

For state and city leaders, she is hosting a TriStar University event from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 15 at the Atlanta Community Food Bank, 732 Joseph E Lowery Blvd. NW, Atlanta.

The cost is $75 to introduce them to the model of improving education by providing affordable housing.

At the same location, Star-C holds free monthly community breakfasts with the next ones scheduled for 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. March 28 and April 25.

Star-C is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation with the mission to reduce transiency in the local school system and improve students’ academic success with affordable housing, free access to on-site after-school programming and affordable medical care, according to the star-c.org website - all to help residents move from apartments to their own single-family homes.
