Before the first day of Christmas, my GDOT gave to me:

» 70 new snow plows.

» 10 more brine distribution tankers.

» Nine new salt and gravel storage sites.

» Two more brine-making facilities.

» And 1,900 prepared employees!

Yes, the Georgia Department of Transportation, still shuddering from nightmarish memories of Snow Jam 2014, is getting ready for the next wintry onslaught of ice and snow.

“We have come light years since the storm of two years ago,” GDOT Commissioner Russell McMurry said at a news conference Monday.
