Snellville is making a garbage collection transition. The city’s new garbage collection company, Advanced Disposal, will start operation July 1.

In the meantime, residents are asked to place their old garbage carts at the curb so the city’s former hauler, Waste Pro, can pick up its containers. Residents will receive a new 65-gallon trash cart and a new 18-gallon recycling bin. Letters will be attached to the new carts with instructions about what can and cannot be recycled.

The same volume-based garbage procedures are still in place. Snellville residents are not charged for basic service nor is there a separate line item on tax bills. Any extra garbage must be placed in blue city bags. sold at Kroger, Publix, City Hall and Public Works.

Residents with questions or those who want a 65-gallon recycling cart may call Public Works from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday at 770-985-3527.
