Smyrna’s Tolleson Park will receive a new playground.

The nearly $179,976 contract was awarded to Kompan, Inc. of Texas by the Smyrna City Council on Dec. 17.

The present playground, 3590 King Springs Road, will be demolished and replaced with new playground equipment by Kompan, including a sitting wall, site work and an underground drainage system.

Kompan supplied a proposal under the U.S. Communities Government Purchasing Alliance.

In other matters, the Council promoted Kevin Moore to be the city engineer.

Moore has been serving as the city’s acting city engineer for the last two months and the city’s assistant city engineer before then.
