The Smyrna City Council is expected to decide whether to approve a Concord Road Corridor Development Concept at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, at City Hall Council Chambers, 2800 King St.

The corridor includes 7.5 acres along the north side of Concord Road.

In May 2014, the city paid $29,700 to The Sizemore Group, in partnership with Marthasville Development, to conduct the study, resulting in a nearly 80-page report, following public meetings.

Around 6 acres will be a passive-use linear park with walking paths, landscaped areas, gates and security fencing.

An additional 1.2 acres will be developed east of the signalized Hollis Street intersection with Concord Road.

There will be four one-story 2,000-square-foot buildings for commercial/retail, but residential would be considered — all to be sold and privately developed.

The expected sale of $275,00 to $300,000 would be used to pay for the linear park improvements.
