Nearly four in 10 people living in Georgia would prefer to move away, a newly released Gallup poll has found.
Gallup conducted a “state of the states” poll in which it asked residents whether they’d prefer to move out of the state or stay put.
Fully half of the people living in Illinois would like to get out, followed by 49 percent of people living in Connecticut, the poll found. Georgia was near the top of the unhappy pack with 38 percent.
The most apparently satisfying states are Montana, Hawaii and Maine, in which only 23 percent of residents in the poll said they’d prefer to move.
About 15 percent of Georgians said they were extremely or somewhat likely to move to another state within 12 months; 85 percent said that was not too or not at all likely.
These are the states that fared the worst. (Percentages may not equal 100 because of rounding.) Full poll results at gallup.com.
