Senior class hijinks got off to a quick start at Marietta High School on Thursday morning, as the Class of 2014 thoroughly rolled the front and side of the school with toilet paper hours before the doors opened for the first day of class.
School principal Leigh Colburn took it in stride, telling reporters that “it appears to have snowed in Marietta.”
“They’re just trying to show their school spirit, said Colburn, Marietta High’s principal for 10 years.
But she added: “They’ll have it cleaned up by noon, or they’ll have different consequences than just cleaning it up.”
While it’s a 50-year tradition for seniors to toilet paper the school, “this is only the second time they’ve done it the first day,” Colburn said.
Senior Zach Sheram said he invited 40 classmates to take part in the prank, and 30 showed up in the wee hours to help.
“We brought about 1,200 rolls of toilet paper, and we came out here and tried to do the best job we’ve ever seen,” he said.
Colburn gave high marks for thoroughness.
“This is a high-quality job,” she said.
