Sandy Springs sets free summer concerts, sculpture gallery

A free Friday evening concert series and a sculpture gallery in the park will debut in May to kick off Sandy Springs’ summer arts season on the City Green at City Springs.

The concert series opens Memorial Day weekend with a performance by the Steep Canyon Rangers bluegrass band. Festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. with music at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 24. The blanket-and-lawn chair concerts are free, and no tickets are needed. For a list of bands and dates:

Just before the May 24 concert, the city and Art Sandy Springs will unveil nine sculptures selected for Arts in the Open, the park’s new sculpture gallery. They were chosen from 135 submissions for this year’s sculpture competition, “Inspired. By Nature.”

The City Green events commemorate the first anniversary of the opening of City Springs, the $229 million downtown redevelopment. They are funded in part by the Sandy Springs Arts Foundation. Information:
