The Sandy Springs City Council has approved spending more than $1.7 million to acquire three more homes in the path of the future widening of Hammond Drive.
The city negotiated agreements to buy the three residences, all single-family homes built in the 1950s, staff said.
It will pay $650,000 for a house and 0.9-acre lot at 360 Hammond; $435,000 for a dwelling and 0.46-acre lot at 446 Hammond; and $650,000 for a residence and 0.83-acre lot at 6020 Glenridge Drive, according to staff reports to the council.
The sellers of 360 Hammond are 360 Hammond Ventures LLP; of 446 Hammond, Charles J. and Paula T. Wetherington; and of 6020 Glenridge, Nancy L. Baker, Judy L. Cowan, Jayne L. Jenkins, Karen L. Moneyhan, Sandra L. Sweat and Becky L. Therrell, according to the purchase contracts.
The latest acquisitions will bring to 22 the total number of parcels acquired to date by Sandy Springs for the Hammond project. Plans call for widening the street from two lanes to four, creating a divided thoroughfare with sidewalks and bicycle lanes.
