The Sandy Springs City Council has approved a change order that will add $135,400 to the cost of a project to improve the intersection of Spalding Drive and Dalrymple and Trowbridge roads.
CMES Inc. will provide additional construction services – relocating a water main, relocating and installing water service lines, relocating and adjusting water meters and valves, and replacing fire hydrants, according to report by Public Works Director William H. Martin Jr.
The $1.38 million construction contract approved by the council earlier this year “did not include the waterline relocation work necessary to fully execute the intersection improvement project,” Martin said. Staff asked CMES to work up a quote for the work and found it to be reasonable.
Project plans call for right-turn lanes added to all legs of the intersection and left-turn lanes added to northbound Spalding and southbound Trowbridge, among other improvements.
