Sandy Springs and Fulton County this month will mark the first project funded by the special transportation sales tax with the posting of a “TSPLOST at Work” sign.
The event is scheduled for 3 p.m. Aug. 14 at the intersection of Mount Vernon Highway and Long Island Drive. A total of $100,000 in traffic efficiency improvements are planned here, including a dedicated left turn lane and pedestrian crossing.
The Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax approved by voters last November is a five-year, 0.75 percent tax that took effect in April. Sandy Springs is to receive $103.7 million from the tax, which is projected to generate $600 million for transportation improvements in Fulton outside Atlanta.
