The Sandy Springs City Council has given the go-ahead for a $531,451 contract for Phase One renovations to the Hammond Park Recreation Center.
Subject to review and approval by the Legal and Finance departments, the contract is with Diversified Construction of Georgia Inc., which submitted the lowest of three bids for the job.
Plans call for the demolition of the gymnasium exterior building skin, and construction of a new exterior that includes prefinished siding; new insulated windows, façade and entrance lobby; and new mechanical and electrical systems for the entrance and lobby. These areas date to the mid-1970s, staff said.
Hammond Park is a 13.7-acre facility at 705 Hammond Drive. It has a community building, gymnastics center, tennis and basketball courts, and two picnic pavilions, according to a city website.
