Too many cans of paint or hazardous materials laying around the house or shed? Then the city of Roswell wants to gather it at an upcoming waste collection event.
The city's Environmental/Public Works Department is collecting hazardous waste items for free from city residents on Oct. 15. The CARE Environmental Corporation — which handles environmental waste management for local governments — will help dispose the hazardous materials, city officials said.
Here is a list of the accepted items:
- Paint thinner/turpentine
- Pesticides including: fertilizers, herbicides, flea and tick products, fungicides, insecticides, rodenticides
- Undiluted pool chemicals
- Household cleaners
- Fluorescent bulbs
- Propane gas cylinders
- Mercury thermometers/thermostats
- Household batteries (non-rechargeable)
- Aerosols including aerosol paint
- Automotive brake fluid/used motor oil filters (no other automotive fluids)
Drop-offs will happen from 9 a.m. to noon at 1810 Hembree Road. Latex and oil-based paint are not accepted on this day.
