The Roswell City Council has given the green light for the first big project funded by the recently approved transportation sales tax – the Big Creek Parkway, a new road for congestion relief in the area immediately north of the Ga. 400/Holcomb Bridge Road interchange.
The $58.5 million undertaking, to be built in two phases, would be Roswell’s most expensive project of those funded by the Transportation Special Purpose Local Option sales tax approved by voters last November.
Plans call for the new roadway to start at Warsaw Road just north of Holcomb Bridge, extend east across Ga. 400, connect with Holcomb Woods Parkway at Old Alabama Road and end back at Holcomb Bridge. A sidewalk and bike path also are planned. No ramps at Ga. 400 are anticipated.
Big Creek Parkway is to be started within five years and take up 73 percent of the total “Tier I” program funded by Roswell’s share of the five-year, 0.75-cent TSPLOST approved for Fulton County outside the city of Atlanta.
