Due in part to a grant from the Georgia Public Library Service, the Fayette County Public Library in Fayetteville will soon get some major repairs that will alleviate patron complaints about water leaks and odors.
On June 14, the Board of Commissioners accepted a $137,500 grant that will fund half of the cost to upgrade the building’s restrooms and replace its roof. The county will fund the other $137,500 from its FY2018 budget. In addition to replacing the original roof, which was built in 1996, the work will include installing high-efficiency toilets and low-flow water fixtures to allow for better drainage. The mirrors, partitions, and ceramic floors and tile will also be replaced, and the walls and doors will be painted.
The project includes $24,900 in contingency funds to cover any unforeseen costs.
