If you’re traveling, you may wish other places missed out on the white stuff, too.
Wintry weather in popular U.S. destinations are causing airline delays here at home, authorities said.
Numerous flights were canceled from Atlanta to New York as a blizzard closed airports across the nation’s midsection.
Speaking of home, overnight precipitation and brisk winds have caused temperatures around metro Atlanta to drop significantly.
This comes after the metro area dodged severe Christmas night weather.
Channel 2 Action News meteorologist David Chandley predicts temperatures — that began the day in the 50s — to be at or near freezing by nightfall.
And Channel 2 meteorologist Brad Nitz warned to “expect snow flurries.”
Readers in the northwest suburbs going as far out as Canton and as close as Kennesaw have reported seeing flurries and sleet.
A wind advisory will be in effect until 10 p.m., Wednesday night, with gusts expected to reach up to 40 mph, Chandley said.
For Thursday, look for cooler temperatures, with lows dropping below the freezing mark amid sunny skies, he said.
The sunny skies will continue Friday, along with highs in the mid-50s and lows in the low 30s.
There’s a 60 percent chance of rain on Saturday, when highs will be in the low 50s and lows in the low 40s.
Sunday should again be sunny and cooler, with highs in the upper 40s and lows around the freezing mark.
