The rain, thunder and few lightning strikes in the metro Atlanta area Tuesday will likely be the last rain you see this week, according to Channel 2 Action News.
Isolated storms and widespread showers are expected through 11 p.m., but temperatures are expected to stay warm over the next 48 hours, Chief Meteorologist Glenn Burns said.
Temperatures were 73 degrees in Atlanta, 66 in Blairsville and 72 in Griffin just after 10 p.m. Tuesday.
But a cold front heading into Georgia should bring down temperatures later in the week.
Highs will remain in the low 80s Wednesday in Atlanta.
“The changes, though, they are coming,” Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton said. “And we will feel it first on Thursday morning.”
Temps will drop to the upper 50s in Atlanta on Thursday, and they will only increase to the mid 70s.
That’s below the average high of 79 degrees for that time of year.
Highs will drop even further below average in Blairsville, where only a 67-degree high is expected Thursday.
“We’re looking at some sweater or maybe light-jacket weather if you’re heading up to the North Georgia mountains,” Minton said.
