Progress continues on the rebuilding of the Emerald Lake Dam in Fayette County. The dam sits beneath Emerald Lake Drive, which the only entrance and exit for approximately 90 homes in the Woodlands subdivision off South Jeff Davis Road.
Repairs were necessary after the corrugated pipes under the previous dam corroded. An earthen cofferdam and temporary road around the work zone are being used while the spillway is being built; a new concrete bridge will be placed on top of the dam after that. The county has budgeted $3 million of Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax funds for the project.
