Power outage hits south DeKalb

Nov 1, 2012Nearly 6,000 electricity customers in southeast DeKalb County were without power for nearly 40 minutes early Thursday morning, Georgia Power officials said.
“We had a whole substation out,” spokeswoman Carol Boatright told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
She said power at the Lithonia substation on Hillandale Drive went out around 7:15 a.m., and crews immediately rushed to the scene to find the source of the problem.
Now, all but about 400 customers have had power restored,” Boatright said.
