The Silver Comet Trail Linear Park in Powder Springs will open at 11 a.m. Saturday on Richard D. Sailors Parkway across from United Community Bank with a dedication, ribbon-cutting ceremony and refreshments.
The $1,146,841 cost breaks down into three phases - the first being $291,902 to East Coast Grading for parking lot improvements, site preparation, intersection realignment, water and sewer and landscaping, the city’s Community Development Director Pam Conner said.
At $640,039, the second phase by East Coast Grading includes $202,303 for the tree playground; $30,108 for the circular wall; $27,000 for interior sidewalks and $24,637 for exterior sidewalks on Sailors Parkway, Conner said.
Of that $640,039 second-phase cost, the remaining $355,991 includes such costs as site preparation, surveying, future playground equipment and a rock-climbing structure, City Clerk Dawn Davis wrote in an email to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Abatech was paid $214,900 to construct the restroom/concession/pavilion building that will be maintained by John Weber of Chew Chew Express, LLC, also selling concessions.
