One person was injured in a predawn fire that heavily damaged a home in northwest Atlanta.
The blaze was reported around 4:30 a.m. in a one-story frame house on Blyss Avenue near Chappell Road.
“When we arrived, we had a lot of fire in the building,” Atlanta fire Battalion Chief Stephen Hill said.
“It was rolling pretty good,” Hill told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “We got a crew up on the roof and they cut a hole and were able to get some of the heat out of the structure.”
Hill said an occupant of the house was injured and take to Atlanta Medical Center for treatment.
“He was outside when we got here,” Hill said. “It didn’t appear to be burn-type injuries; it appeared maybe it was smoke inhalation.”
A search of the home found no one else inside, he said.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
