Norcross has received a $10,000 grant from the Department of Economic Development/Tourism Division to purchase an electric closed/hardshell Moto Buddy shuttle. At their Dec. city council meeting the Norcross City Council approved a request for an additional $22,500 from Tourism Funds for the purchase of the electric trolley.

The new vehicle will continue the city’s Historic Downtown Trolley Tours, small home tours, art tours and economic development tours. It may also be used to transport visitors from the new library into the center of town.

The electric trolley will have heat and air conditioning, wheelchair accessibility and a custom vinyl wrap making it easily identifiable. The current trolley bus runs on gasoline and is rented once a month from a private transportation company.

The electric trolley contains two 48-volt systems and is expected to be able to travel 50 miles on one charge.
