Norcross was one of four cities in metro Atlanta to earn Green Communities certification for its efforts in promoting efficient and sustainable use of resources.
The ARC said Norcross earned its top Gold certification with help from the Sustainable Norcross Commission, which is “transforming its practices across all departments.” That includes requiring new city-owned buildings to earn LEED certification and deconstructing three properties and salvaging the items instead of dumping them in a landfill.
Norcross is now one of 16 Gold certified-cities.
