Snellville city leaders recently released an update on the intersection improvements coming to Highway 78 at State Route 124/Scenic Highway. The construction crew is waiting on the Georgia Department of Transportation to give them approval for a dirt waste site. Once crews obtain approval work will proceed to grade the area along the north side of Highway 78 from Captain D’s to S.R. 124.
The major portion of the project’s construction will take place in late February or early March and continue for a year, construction officials said. As always this schedule is subject to change depending on the weather.
The first phase of this project includes improvements to Henry Clower Boulevard at either end where Clower meets U.S. 78, and where Henry Clower Boulevard meets Scenic Highway. The second phase includes improvements to the intersection of Highway 78 and Scenic Highway. The project is anticipated to take 18 to 24 months for completion.
