After two public hearings, the Fayette County Board of Commissioners approved its $97 million FY2020 budget on June 27 on a 3-1-1 vote, with Charles Rousseau opposed and Eric Maxwell absent.

As presented by Chief Financial Officer Mary Parrott, the coming year’s general fund will include just under $55 million in expenses, plus another $20.4 million in special revenue funds for such functions as fire/EMS services and emergency communications. All public safety officers will receive a 9.09 percent raise. Court programs for drug and alcohol-related offenders did not receive as much state grant money as requested, but those programs will still operate using DATE revenue.

The commissioners did not approve $61,374 for salary supplements for judges in the Superior, State and Juvenile Courts, plus related magistrate judges, the district attorney and other constitutional officers.
