He allegedly had the tinted windows, emergency lights, guns, ballistic vests, laptop computer and other standard police gear. He even had two German shepherd dogs in the back of his black Dodge Charger.
But what Nicholas Clayton Wilbanks allegedly didn't have was a real badge.
Hall County Sheriff's deputies arrested Wilbanks, 32, on Friday and booked him into the Hall County jail. The construction worker from Monroe was charged with impersonating a police officer, driving under the influence of drugs, having no emergency light permit, and two tag violations.
Police arrested Wilbanks during a traffic stop on Brown’s Bridge Road after receiving a tip that he was impersonating an officer. The car was equipped to appear like an unmarked law enforcement vehicle, and Wilbanks was dressed in police-type trousers and a U.S. Department of Justice shirt, police said. His vehicle also had false antennas, a camera system, an ATF badge and multiple law enforcement T-shirts.
The public is urged to contact authorities at 770-531-6879 if they have been stopped or approached by Wilbanks.
