Athens saw its first two reported power outages about 11 a.m. as the winter storm that blanketed Atlanta began to move eastward.
The Athens-Clarke County Police Department reported it was not aware of any power lines obstructing roadways, though it did release warn of icy conditions across Athens, and Broad Street in particular, which is near the University of Georgia campus.
By noon, one of the outages was repaired.
More power outages are expected as the storm continues toward Athens, with strong wind speeds and icy conditions expected to cause more damage.
