Several changes could be on the way to Milton city park regulations after discussion at this week’s Milton City Council work session.

Parks and Recreation Director Jim Cregge told the city council that the park and recreation advisory board would like the council to expand the existing ban on smoking in city parks to cover other tobacco and related products like chewing tobacco and vaping. Council members seemed amenable and said it would send the right message to children, but took no action.

City council members also asked the parks and rec advisory board to consider a policy requiring permits for the usage of drones in parks with playing fields. The advisory board had recommended a ban on drones, citing a number of crashes and a California case where a drone was apparently used to scout out an opposing team.

In addition, council members suggested the board consider developing size and location recommendations regarding advertising on team banners for specific sporting events.
