The city of Milton will be making fresh plans for its future development.

Principal city planner Michele McIntosh-Ross told the council Monday night the city is due for a five-year update of its 2030 comprehensive plan adopted in 2011. The required new version to be finalized next year will extend out to 2035.

McIntosh-Ross told the council that the 2035 document will update the city’s detailed land use map and will establish a series of projects to be done under a city work plan. Also included will be transportation, capital improvement and housing and economic development plans.

A steering committee will be formed by mid-December to shepherd development and will meet several times while holding a trio of public information meetings. Under the city timetable, the plan would be transmitted to the Atlanta Regional Commission for review prior to final city adoption in September of next year.
