The Milton City Council has approved the city’s FY 2016 budget on a 6-0 vote. The general fund budget comes in at $26.2 million, up from the FY 2015 total of $24.3 million and projects a more than $5 million surplus.

The budget includes a 2.5 percent raise for city employees to help stay market-competitive. It also includes hiring a number of public safety personnel, including three new paramedics, at Fire Station 42. Improvements to public safety gear are also tucked in, including a Krimesite imager for the police department.

The newly-adopted budget contains $7.2 million in capital improvement programs, including allocating $1.5 million to the city hall construction project and $2 million to acquire new park land, as well as $750,000 for sidewalk construction.

The city’s Broadwell Pavilion park would also see improvements to the tune of $50,000.
