UPDATE: Lucky Buddha passed a re-inspection Tuesday with a 96/A.
The report noted food buildup in and on cooling units; a failure to provide a vacuum breaker at the service sink in the main kitchen area; and “food debris/buildup on floors throughout facility.”
The facility was not open and no workers were present at the time of the inspection.
“Facility is cleared to re-open after passing this follow-up inspection, but Owner must still report to court on date assigned,” the inspection said.
The inspection did not indicate why the owner would have to appear in court.
ORIGINAL (published Oct. 16): A Chinese restaurant failed a recent health inspection, with officials noting — as they have before — that it is in need of a "thorough deep cleaning."
Lucky Buddha, located at 529 10th St. NW, scored a 61 following the Monday afternoon evaluation. Its prior score, from June, was an 81/B; 69 and below is considered failing.
The restaurant also failed an inspection in June, and failed two inspections last year. A man who answered the phone at the restaurant Tuesday afternoon said a manager was not there.
Here are three of 16 violations listed on the recent report:
• “Observed employees go outside, touch/move trashcans, remove trash bags from trashcans, use a mop and proceed to prepare/retrieve food from reach in coolers/prep top cooler without washing their hands.”
• “Observed an accumulation of old encrusted food debris on a meat slicer located in the main kitchen area.”
• “Observed an excessive accumulation of grease and old encrusted food debris on the exterior and interior of all equipment in the facility. Observed grease and old food debris on the handles and exterior of equipment throughout the main kitchen area. Observed encrusted food debris on the floor, walls, shelves, gaskets, hinges and ceilings of reach in units. Observed an excessive accumulation of encrusted food debris in the crevices of a prep top cooler located in the main kitchen area.”
