The University of Georgia raised more than $126 million during the 2011 fiscal year, making it the sixth consecutive year fund-raising topped $100 million, officials said Monday.
More than 56,000 contributors donated. The university received about $50.9 million in pledges, up from last year's $20 million.
The UGA Athletic Association raised $30 million.
The College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences raised $9.2 million -- more than any other college. Terry College of Business was a close second with $8.9 million. LAURA DIAMOND

The Judicial Council of Georgia is recommending that six new Superior Court judgeships, including one each in Clayton and Forsyth counties, be approved in next year's legislative session.
The council met Friday in Atlanta and, after reviewing case load information, recommended the creation of these new positions in the following order of priority: Bell-Forsyth Circuit, Piedmont Circuit, Middle Circuit, Oconee Circuit, Western Circuit and Clayton Circuit. The recommendations are being sent to the governor and the General Assembly for the 2012 session. BILL RANKIN

Northside Hospital will receive nearly $100,000 from the American Cancer Society’s South Atlantic Division for a pilot program to improve the quality of care for breast cancer patients.
The hospital is partnering on the project with Emory University’s Winship Cancer Institute. The aim of the grant is to help Northside staff more effectively help patients who are experiencing delays in treatment and other barriers to care by providing them with near real-time information on their patients using a Web-based data collection and reporting system.
