Atlanta police were investigating a shooting in southwest Atlanta on Saturday that left a man hospitalized with two wounds.
The shooting occurred in the 1200 block of Allene Avenue, according to APD police spokesman Sgt. Curtis Davenport. The victim told police several men wearing masks drove up in a dark sedan and forced the man inside his residence.
While inside, the intruders took something from a safe, Davenport said.
In response to questions posed by Channel 2 Action News several hours after the incident, the police spokesman denied earlier reports from the scene that intruders told the victim they were "from the FBI."
Davenport also said a woman at the scene "was only present" and that "there was nothing done to her." Earlier reports from the scene said the intruders took the woman into the residence.
Davenport also would only say "something" was taken from the safe, despite earlier reports from the scene that a yellow envelope was taken.
The man was shot twice in the buttocks and taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
