Marietta considers name change for redevelopment road

Marietta is considering changing the name of Franklin Road in east Marietta near Interstate 75 to Gateway Boulevard. The change stems from a $68 redevelopment bond approved by Marietta voters a year ago to upgrade the corridor between South Marietta Parkway and Delk Road.

The city council plans to start the name change process at a work agenda session and council meeting 7 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall, 205 Lawrence St. The council also plans to get advice from the Gateway Improvement District and community.
