The Marietta Fire Department will conduct a live fire training exercise, starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, with April 18 as the rain date, at the old Marietta Dermatology Building, 900 Campbell Hill St.

The building was donated to the fire department for training in breathing apparatus usage, fire hose line advancement, roof ventilation training, lost/disoriented firefighter search, hazardous materials operations training, hose line search drills, search and rescue operations and fire investigation and origin training.

In total, the department has been able to accomplish about 2,000 hours of training in 45 days.

Saturday’s culmination will be a defensive operation, resulting in burning down the building.

This final training will prepare the crews for large-scale fires, using aerial master streams to learn how to protect surrounding areas.
