Law enforcement personnel attempting to serve an arrest warrant shot and killed a Bartow County man Thursday night, the sheriff's office said Friday.

Agents and officers from several jurisdictions arrived at the home of Thomas Franklin Truitt, 37, shortly before 10 p.m., Sgt. Jonathan Rogers with the Bartow County Sheriff's Office said.

"During the attempt to arrest, shots were fired, and Truitt was shot and killed," Rogers said in a press release.

An investigation into the incident is under way, Rogers said. No further details were released.

The Daily Tribune in Cartersville reported that U.S. Marshals, part of a metro Atlanta task force, were at the home Thursday night along with Bartow County deputies.
