Longtime Gwinnett transportation director retires

Sept 30, 2011

Gwinnett County Transportation Director Brian Allen will retire effective today.

Allen came to Gwinnett County in 1995, serving briefly as assistant county administrator before taking over the transportation department. During his tenure he oversaw more than $1 billion in voter-approved transportation improvements.

County Administrator Glenn Stephens said Allen’s experience has been a tremendous asset and said Gwinnett “is a better place because of him.”

Deputy Director Kim Conroy, a 26-year veteran of the department, will serve as acting transportation director.
